There is nothing more endearing and heart warming than a winter vacation in Colorado. Skiing is the top recreation for many visitors and many skiing resorts provide exceptional vacations for all ages and all budgets.
The main resorts are located in Loveland, Breckenridge, Buttermilk, Crested Butte, Howelsen, Arapahoe Basin, Monarch Mountain, Devil's Thumb Ranch, Snowmass, Frisco, Silverton Mountain, Gold Run, Aspen Highlands, Grand Lake Touring Center, Powderhorn, Copper Mountain, Keystone, Tennessee Pass, Wolf Creek Ski Sunlight, Snow Mountain Ranch, Aspen Mountain, SolVista Basin, Steamboat Ski Touring Center, Eldora, Echo Mountain, Steamboat, Ski Cooper, Durango, Telluride, Winter Park/Mary Jane and Beaver Creek. They offer Nordic, telemark, downhill and crosscountry skiing, as well as ski schools with private or group lessons. Backcountry skiing can also be done at many of these resorts, but special permits are required for extended stays beyond the resorts' perimeters.
Each resort offers various lodgings, ranging from condos to hotel suites. Amenities are usually inclusive in many skiing vacation packages and skiers can relax at the many exceptional restaurants, bars, nightclubs and cafes that are found on site.
