South Dakota vacations bring a thrill to all those who travel to this exciting state. Attractions galore await the sightseer, and premier outdoor recreation is abundant for the adventurer. You'll always find excellent lodging options no matter the part of the state you visit. Be sure to plan your trip carefully so you won't miss any of the internationally favorite spots throughout the state. Some highlights are below.

In Pierre, the capital of South Dakota, you can tour the Discovery Center and Aquarium with over sixty hands-on exhibits, or you can take off to view some dams nearby, like the Oahe Dam or the Big Bend Dam. Traveling southwest, you'll discover an enchanted place, Badlands National Park. As you drive through this otherworldly place, you can get some amazing photos of the multicolored rock formations.

As you travel further west, some incredible sights await. Mount Rushmore is a must-see, of course, for every South Dakota tourist. Wind Cave National Park is one of the world's largest caves, at least out of those known about. Be sure to stop here when in Hot Springs. As you will already be in the boundaries of Black Hills National Forest, you will certainly move through this park with awe as you enjoy the black mountains jutting skyward with ponderosa pines thickly covering them. At Jewel Cave National Monument you'll be impressed with the cave systems. This was a treasured place for those gold rush seekers during earlier times.
